Varnāśrama in action - in the original Vedic tradition.
The social institution known as varṇāśrama-dharma - the institution dividing society into four divisions or castes - is not meant to divide human society according to birth. Such divisions are in terms of educational qualifications. They are to keep the society in a state of peace and prosperity. The qualities mentioned herein are explained as transcendental qualities meant for making a person progress in spiritual understanding so he can get liberated from the material world.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF INITIATION? BY SRILA PRABHUPADA

1. To attempt to save men individually from the chain of victimization the ongoing trend in modern civilization operates by, in the name of ideologies of false sentiment, so that Man may again be a free soul, to act and live freely with spiritual vision. This is possible by individual spiritual initiation, Diksha, when a man can see everything in Godhead and Godhead in everything.
(Constitution of Association- Srila Prabhupada, 1966)

This relationship with Krishna is established by connecting oneself with the bona fide spiritual master who is the direct representative of Krishna in disciplic succession. The connection with the spiritual master is called initiation. From the date of initiation by the spiritual master, the connection between Krishna and a person cultivating Krishna consciousness is established.
