The PSS's GOLOKA FARM SANCTUARY projects are centered on the creation and maintenance of a completely self-sufficient, sustainable farm community — in the original Vedic tradition.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
I have performed this ceremony many times on behalf of Srila Prabhupada since 1986. The results have been very encouraging. By His Divine Grace, many more Devotees are out in the streets performing Sankirtan worldwide, preaching and distributing Srila Prabhupada's original books.
We are now here in Costa Rica with three (3) new Bhaktas wanting to take initiation from Srila Prabhupada; one from the USA, and two from Costa Rica. We attempt to establish here a truly self-sufficient farm community, based on the varnasram system that Srila Prabhupada wanted so much. The spiritual master of the farm community is naturally Srila Prabhupada.
If you would like to participate in this grand project we welcome you.
You may contact me directly, via email:
Thank you.

THE IMPORTANCE OF VARNASRAMA
From the hand and pen of Srila Prabhupada ~
“Our farm projects are an extremely important part of our movement. We must become self-sufficient by growing our own grains and producing our own milk, then there will be no question of poverty. So develop these farm communities as far as possible. They should be developed as an ideal society depending on natural products not industry. Industry has simply created godlessness, because they think they can manufacture everything that they need. Our Bhagavad-gita philosophy explains that men and animals must have food in order to maintain their bodies. And the production of food is dependent on the rain and the rain of course is dependent on chanting Hare Krsna. Therefore let everyone chant Hare Krsna, eat nicely and keep their bodies fit and healthy. This is ideal life style. We do not condemn modern civilization but we don't like to get it at the cost of God Consciousness, that is suicide.”
In reply to your letter dated 26 November 1975, I beg to submit herein that our International Society for Krishna Consciousness is a Bhakti yoga asram as it is enunciated in the Bhagavad-gita. The main purpose of the society is to understand the nature of God and our relationship with Him. The very word yoga means connecting link with the supreme being. We accept Krishna as the supreme being, and nobody is equal to him or greater than him. How he is supreme is lucidly explained in the Bhagavad-gita, and we try to revive our eternal relationship with him. In the Bhagavad-gita itself there are different processes of yoga systems, karma yoga, jnana yoga, dhayana yoga, hatha yoga, bhakti yoga and so many patterns of yoga. Others may practice different patterns of yoga, and we can understand that everyone is trying to pass on the path of yoga, but bhakti yoga is the ultimate goal, and if anyone is actually interested to understand God as he is, he has to come to the platform of bhakti yoga.
-- Vrindaban, 8 December, 1975:
is a religious hermitage and/or a remote dwelling place, utilized for spiritual pursuits. The term asram and/or ashram often refers to a cultural and agricultural center. Activities, such as yoga, music, study, and/or religious instruction - as well as farming - are often the main focus of these special places.
refers to the main divisions of traditional Vedic society. These divisions should not be confused with the more complicated divisions of the contemporary (politically oriented and exploitative) caste system in India. The four varnas or Chatur varna as they are mentioned in ancient texts, in brief, are:
- The Brahmanas [or Brahmins]; the scholars and clergy; or priests.
- The Kshatriyas; the warriors and administrators.
- The Vaishyas; the agriculturists, artisans, and merchants.
- The Sudras; the manual laborers, workers.
Chapter 18. - Conclusion
TEXT 41

Bhagavad-gita As It Is - Macmillan 1972 Edition: Bg 1: Observing the Armies on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra:
In the system of the varṇāśrama institution there are many principles of religious traditions to help members of the family grow properly and attain spiritual values. The elder members are responsible for such purifying processes in the family, beginning from birth to death. But on the death of the elder members, such family traditions of purification may stop, and the remaining younger family members may develop irreligious habits and thereby lose their chance for spiritual salvation. Therefore, for no purpose should the elder members of the family be slain.
Bhagavad-gita As It Is - Macmillan 1972 Edition: Bg 1: Observing the Armies on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra:
The four orders of human society, combined with family welfare activities as they are set forth by the institution of the sanātana-dharma or varṇāśrama-dharma, are designed to enable the human being to attain his ultimate salvation. Therefore, the breaking of the sanātana-dharma tradition by irresponsible leaders of society brings about chaos in that society, and consequently people forget the aim of life-Viṣṇu. Such leaders are called blind, and persons who follow such leaders are sure to be led into chaos.
